WEEK 7: ENHANCING LESSON PLANS AND CANVA ACTIVITIES WITH CHATGPT

1. Describe how you developed your Canva activity. What stage have you reached this week on the Canva activity? What parts of Canva remain to be done?

I developed the Canva activity by first focusing on the overall design and purpose. I asked ChatGPT questions about the target audience and learning objectives, such as "How can I create an effective Canva presentation for secondary school students?" This helped shape the content and design. As of this week, the visual design and content organization of the Canva activity are complete. However, I still need to add a few interactive elements and evaluation tools. With ChatGPT's guidance, I have a clear plan on how to complete these remaining parts.

2. Write your learning objectives. Describe how you integrated content knowledge into the lesson plan through Canva. How did you decide on the topic and student’s level?

Learning Objectives:

  • Students will understand the key elements of digital storytelling.
  • Students will be able to create a storyboard for their digital story.
  • Students will engage in peer review and provide constructive feedback.

To integrate content knowledge into the lesson plan through Canva, I used ChatGPT to clarify my learning objectives and make them specific and measurable. For example, I asked, "What skills should students have acquired by the end of this lesson?" The responses helped me refine my objectives. I decided on the topic of digital storytelling and the student level (middle school) based on ChatGPT's recommendations, such as "Which topics are most effectively taught in middle school science classes?"

3. Write at least 5 prompt examples that you used in your conversations with ChatGPT specifically related to developing lesson plans.

  1. Prompt: "What are the main learning objectives for this course and how can they be made compatible with Bloom's taxonomy?"
    • ChatGPT Response: "The main learning objectives should include understanding key concepts, applying knowledge in practical scenarios, and analyzing outcomes. Align these with Bloom's taxonomy by categorizing them into cognitive levels such as remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating."
  1. Prompt: "What strategies can I use to guarantee active student participation during the lesson?"
    • ChatGPT Response: "Incorporate interactive activities such as group discussions, hands-on projects, and real-time quizzes. Use technology tools like interactive whiteboards and student response systems to keep students engaged."
  1. Prompt: "What formative and summative assessment tools can be used to evaluate student understanding deeply?"
    • ChatGPT Response: "Use formative assessments like quizzes, exit tickets, and peer reviews to gauge ongoing understanding. For summative assessments, consider projects, presentations, and written exams that require students to demonstrate their knowledge comprehensively."
  1. Prompt: "How can I differentiate instruction to meet the changing learning needs of my students?"
    • ChatGPT Response: "Differentiate by providing varied instructional materials, such as videos, readings, and hands-on activities. Offer choices in assignments and assessments to cater to different learning styles and abilities."
  1. Prompt: "What is an effective structure for this lesson, including introduction, instructional activities, and closure?"
    • ChatGPT Response: "Start with an engaging introduction that hooks students' interest. Follow with instructional activities that include direct teaching, guided practice, and independent work. Conclude with a summary and reflection activity to reinforce learning."

4. Write at least 5 prompt examples that you used in your conversations with ChatGPT specifically related to Canva activity.

  1. Prompt: "How can I create an effective Canva presentation for middle school students?"
    • ChatGPT Response: "Focus on clear, concise content with engaging visuals. Use age-appropriate language and include interactive elements like quizzes and polls to maintain interest."
  1. Prompt: "How to create an effective infographic in Canva?"
    • ChatGPT Response: "Use a clean layout with a balance of text and visuals. Highlight key points with icons and charts. Ensure the information flows logically and is easy to understand."
  1. Prompt: "How to design visuals that will attract students’ attention?"
    • ChatGPT Response: "Use bright colors, bold fonts, and high-quality images. Incorporate elements of surprise or humor to make the visuals more engaging."
  1. Prompt: "How to add video and animation to Canva presentation?"
    • ChatGPT Response: "Use Canva's built-in tools to embed videos and add animations. Keep animations subtle and relevant to the content to avoid distractions."
  1. Prompt: "How to design activities suitable for group work in Canva?"
    • ChatGPT Response: "Create templates that students can collaboratively edit. Include clear instructions and roles for each group member to ensure effective collaboration."

5TH WEEK BLOG: WEB 2.0 TOOLS FOR MODERN TEACHING (COURSERA)

Before starting the topic, I will briefly talk about what I learnt from the course and the difficulties I encountered and try to explain what I learned with the help of the videos I watched. I have learnt the importance of integrating Web 2.0 tools in education and how to use these tools with the right strategies. I believe that this knowledge will help me to develop more effective and interactive methods in education. In particular, I have realised the importance of selecting the tools that suit the needs of the students and implementing these tools step by step. However, I face some difficulties in determining which tools are the most appropriate and learning how to use these tools in the best way in my lessons. These difficulties are minor difficulties caused by using any web 2.0 tool for the first time or not fully understanding how to use it. In this process, I think I can solve the problems by improving myself through continuous practice as well as getting support from my col...

WEEK 8: COMIC STRIP DEVELOPMENT AND ANALYSIS

1. Describe how you developed ComicStrip activity. I developed the ComicStrip activity by first determining the topic of the story, which was digital storytelling. I chose this topic because it would attract students' interest and meet my learning goals. I then wrote the outline and dialogues, ensuring the story was fluent and understandable. I selected and drew visuals to support the story, making sure they were educational and interesting. Using digital tools like Storyjumper, I created the story digitally, which made it more interactive and visually rich. After completing the story, I received feedback from my peers and teacher, which I used to edit and improve the story. 2.  Do you think that the story of the ComicStrip and your learning objectives are parallel? Yes, the story of the ComicStrip and my learning objectives are parallel. The ComicStrip was designed to teach the elements and process of digital storytelling, which aligns with my learning objectives.   For ex...
